Hello again, grand vitara suspension help?

Post by Rodden87 » Sun Feb 08, 2015 7:06 pm

Hello chaps, I hope a few of you might remember my jimny build from a laning trip we did last year. Well after selling the jimny and buying a defender (the biggest regret ever) I'm now desperate to return to zooki's. I'm considering a Gv lwb and would love some advice on lift and trimming required for roughly 31-32 inches tires.

I'm also going to be keeping my winch so any advice on winch mounts would be much appreciated

Thanks Andy

:welcome2: back! I know nothing about GV's, but someone should be along soon, there are a few GV owners on here. It's just that most of us have SJ's or Vitaras, a few Jimny's, but not as many GV's.

You'll need to do quite a bit of work to fit tyres that size on a GV, there's not many lift kits available for them really I don't think, plenty of places selling bodge lift parts like spring spacers etc though.

You will need to do quite a bit of trimming.

Tbh there's only a few people with modded GVs on here so you might need to wait a little while for them to pop on and reply.

After a bit more of a look around It looks like a can get 3 inch suspension lift which give lots of arche height so the remaining problem will be arche width so it might be all down to how much you can trim?

Where is the kit from?

There is a lot of crap around in this country at the moment so be careful.

Both bits4vits and jimnybits sell the kits or components to do the lift.

There is a bit of plastic you can loose.

Guess it would need diff drip brackets like the Vit does. At least the front diff's and shafts are a bit stronger than a normal Vit.

Depends on the engine, the 1.6 and 2.0 still have alloy front diffs, however I think the shafts are a bit longer so they will be at slightly less of an angle with the same lift on a normal vit.
