The some dosh Mini revamp

Post by donkeychomp » Sun Jun 07, 2015 9:31 pm

And here is the little scamp. Needs some minor body work, a few bits of trim are missing and/or manky so I'm off to Minispeed tomorrow to get various parts. The rear seat has collapsed and I'm thinking about binning it and putting in a roll cage. More good points than bad, MOT, Spax adjustables all round, brand new tyres on Revolution alloys. 1340cc blueprinted engine with a list of work done to it that makes for some very interesting reading. So I'll get insured tomorrow and blat about in her for a while...not sure if I keep this or fix it up and sell it on...

Sigh...went to Minispeed today (top tip...AVOID) I had the owner serving me...needed 10 items he had 4 of them and it took him 45 minutes to fetch them. Got home and one was wrong (the oil cap). Marvellous. Then the starter ate itself. OK, probably £20 on ebay. WRONG. More like 150 nicker for a high torque one. What joy.

minis have the same problem as v-dub beetles and campers. thjey are seen as retro and so everyone wants one which ramps the prices of everything up. 15 year ago you could give split screen campers away and look at them now. wish i'd bought a few back then, i could have retired early. lol. love the mini, i had to give up my old clubman and ive missed it ever since. i will have another again. ;)

Its a lovely looking Mini and that colour red just suits it,great fun to drive but not a every day set of wheels, more your high days and holiday and rallies as it 'car rallies' and not the 'Monte Carlo' although 50 years ago they had been the must have Rally car.

A fun, retro, iconic motor that will suck the wonga out of your wallet, and a totally impractical modern day car, apart from that its stunning :hahaha:

Finally got the starter...had no choice but to go back to Minispeed but how can they fuck that up? Says £170 on the website, and guess what? I get the bloody owner serving me again. He had one on the counter and calmly looks at me and says £230 please. You know that feeling when you just want to beat someone to a pulp? Thankfully that passed as I suggested he check his own sodding website and he then charged me the correct price. Last time I ever use them.

So it's on and I drove her home tonight, laughing like a loon all the way. The power is intense for such a tiny car...was funny as an Audi TiT tried to beat me off the lights at a dual carriageway. He never even caught me. This is SO much fun!

Looking at the wheels I'd guess it's a cop-E-type

It's a friends car...so cool you could keep a side of meat in it for a month. Had a go in it too, fast does not describe it.
