Interferece Engine?

Post by Frenchy » Tue Jan 12, 2016 1:14 pm

I'm over in Spain and have just bought a standard SJ1.3 Samurai. The seller told me he'd changer the timing belt around 18 months ago and it has done little milage since.I'll probably get it changed anyway and get a new water pump fitted. But I thought I'd check around the internet to see if it is an interference engine,so I could take my time with some piece of mind.I've found so much contradiction on various forums.Does anyone know from experience if it is or isn't?

It can be handy to have a spare belt though.... if it does go you can change it at the side of the road with basic tools

Thanks to both, good to know and keeping a spare is a good idea.I think I'd leave the fitting to roadside assistance though
