SJ410 Road Side Essential Spares & Tools Recommendations?

Post by SherwoodNash » Sat Mar 19, 2016 6:18 pm

After an extensive overhaul, I'm about to start using my SJ as my daily driver.

Apart from the obvious socket set, screwdrivers etc, what are your must have essential SJ spares and tool items that you carry or wish you had?

Thanks :D

Gt-85 and carb oil is what i seem to use the most. Spare fluids aswell, but then that is usually because its going laning not just driving.

If its a daily drive just for around the doors and no massive journeys are being done no spares required.

Just maintain it well.

Thanks for the reply, that's SU carb oil you're talking about? I'm running the stock Aisin carb, so that won't apply.

Funnily enough that's the only part on the whole truck I'm most worried about failing on me somewhere out in the sticks.

In the near future I plan on tearing it down http://www.suzukiclubuk.co.uk/diy/15-en ... down-guide and fit a service kit as insurance, but it's working just fine at the moment.

I've got a Jimny which runs the same as the 1.3 SJ. I tend to always carry a lot of kit in the boot main ones being water and oil, along with a basic set of tools, first aid kit and fire extinguisher! Can never be too prepared. I'll post up a proper list when I'm at a computer!

Feeler gauges if it's still running points in the dizzy, they say me times need adjusting. I always used to carry a spare set of points and a condenser as well, they are cheap and small and if one fails it'll leave you stranded over a 5 minute fix.
