Sj oil light

Hi guys,
Haven't posted on here much for a while but have a small problem. My 1986 sj413 has been running fine bar burning a small amount of oil, but just today on my way home from work, the oil light has started coming on at idle/low revs but goes off under acceleration/higher revs.
Regularly check oil level and top up if needed so this is not the problem,
A quick google search tells me its low oil pressure due to oil pump/main bearings/oil switch or a number of other things. What's the process of finding and fixing the problem? And is it okay to drive to work and back tomorrow?
Thanks,
Dan.

I wouldn't drive it until the problem is sorted.......once that light is on damage is already being done.
first start with a new oil pressure sender......but if the light stays on while running shut it down fast.
tbh once you are at the point that you need to swap the oil pump you might as well do a bottom end rebuild.
I might have a good 1.3 coming up for sale very soon.

Can you point me in the right direction for the oil pressure sender please?

There's an era oil pressure switch in stock at eurocarparts, 8 miles away, too risky to drive there in the sj?

It's above the oil filter on the G13bb if that's a similar setup to your sj?

The oil light only switches on at something like 0.2kg/cm
If its flickering you've got issues (been there done that)
As scott says pump/rebuild or chuck a new engine in (ahem... 1.6)

Well I have swapped cars, it only happened last night on way home from work so hopefully not cause damage? Fingers crossed...
I've picked up an oil pressure switch today so going to give that a try now.

Just stuck the new oil pressure switch in, started her up, after about 30 seconds the light stayed on so I shut her down, I guess she's FUBAR?
Any reason why you guys are reccomending a new engine? Anything wrong with just sticking a new oil pump on?

When did you last do an oil change?
