gear changing

hi guys picked up jimny tonight and the gear change is really stiff and hard to get into gear is this a common problem and is there a fix please

If it selects gears nicely when it's not running, it may be the clutch dragging.

When you say stiff, have you tried going from 1st, N, and then 2nd?
Mine does this, I think it's a Jimny trait!

It will be the linkage from the lever to the gearbox. Probably seized and in need of a service.
I would change the gearbox oil while you are at it.
And make sure the clutch cable is correctly adjusted.

haha, In the Jimny world it is, SJ's maybe not!

The Jimnys I've driven have changed gear fine

ok how do i know its adjusted properly
