What would happen if they get blocked? Is it the end of the world as we know it?

Yes, the seals would explode and send stinky oil everywhere.

I had issues with blocked breathers before... put new oil seals in and a week later it would chuck all the diff oil out past the seals!
As a good side effect though makes it more difficult to suck water in the breather

So it will cause problems, only reason I ask is because, on the axle I'm building up for the LJ, the breather cap was solid, no movement at all. So plan was remove and put a breather hose in, but the hole doesn't seem to go all the way into the axle. I can't see or feel anything inside the casing, its just smoth I don't have a compressor to blow through it and don't want to put me mouth anywhere near it

I've blown a set of seals because of a blocked breather. If it's a road car, it's sort-of ok to just pull the breather - but ideally you'd at least put something over it to stop things getting into your diff, but allowing air out. I ran hose from the diffs up to the engine bay.

Yeah that was the plan run a hose into the engine bay

Have you tried poking anything into the hole? Mine was a bit gunged up, so I removed the cap and spring, pushed the crud out, and ran a diff oil change.

I then fitted both diffs with breathers, into one breather into the engine bay, same as the gearbox/transfer box, I plan to follow the diffs into a single pipe into a future snorkel, and the same for the gearbox/transfer box.

There is no good reason to plumb breathers into a snorkel. They shouldn't really be linked together either.

If you were ever to roll (never say it won't happen) just think about where the oil might end up.

In the air box mainly.

They're linked together according to oils, ie Diffs (GL5) and Gearbox/Transfer Box (GL4)
But yeah, makes sense, if it does fall over, im gonna get oil in the intake, maybe i'll run it beside the snorkel, with a nice cap on
