MOT Time again!

Post by twiss » Wed Apr 20, 2011 12:11 pm

MOT Time Again!!!

Well I dropped my car in for it's lovely MOT... and to be fair it's not in the best of nick... I just like a list to work to.
Apparently it's only 2 red pages this year though, but it includes £250 of welding

Oh well, last year it was 3 red pages and £300 of welding so it's getting better! ... and I should end up with a nice new floor in the front! :hahaha:

I will post the fails up when I pick up the car at lunch time :salute:

Well, it's quite a considerable list of stuff, but it's not actually that much work for me to do ;)

Stupid little ones

1 Fog Light not working (just needs re-wiring)
2 Rear number plate light insecure
4 Offside windscreen washer insufficient fluid
5 Nearside windscreen washer insufficient fluid
9 Fuel cap does not fasten securely

All brakes, mostly just rear shoe adjusters... and a couple of front brake hoses

3 Handbrake has no reserve travel
6 Nearside front brake hose chafed
7 Pedal Creeps down under pressure
15 Offside Rear handbrake little or no effort
16 parking brake efficiency 3% lol

Suspension.. new track rod end and kingpins?

10 Offside Track rod end excessive play
14 Nearside front tractor joint excessive movement

Welding... basically a new driver side footwell, and a bit on the passenger side
£250

11 Offside front (floor) subframe mount area corroded
12 Offside front (floor) brake pedal excessively corroded
13 Nearside front (floor by seat bolt) excessively corroded

So the lot for just over £300 I think... oh well!

It's funny how they didn't fail me on my side exit exhaust, lack of backbox and lack of front number plate hmmm :er:

Well I always take it to the same MOT station, and they are alright down there...
+ it's not really £250 just to pass this MOT... it's sort of for the next one as well.
If they do the welding as well they would be a bit out of order to fail it... whereas if I did it and it wasn't up to spec, they could fail it and cost me another £50 MOT

It's not like they can fail the welding they did on it a year ago... ;)
...and besides... the floor in the front is actually knackered

Yeah but I'd rather have the zooki working than learn to weld :P
