Oil Problems

i got my anus running for the first time, but the pickup tube was too close to the sump and didnt pickup oil, it could have been on for a minuite while the carb idle was set. The engine was knocking a bit.
What can i check to see if its took any hurt, ive pulled off the rocker cover, and am trying to get the sump off (is the back screws really this hard to get off, i can see the pickup tube right on the bung hole.

although with all the work done to adapt the anus for a 1.6 it shouldnt be as hard to put another engine in again.
