Tolerances

Post by ScottieJ » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:33 pm

I was working on the front samurai axle for my sj yesterday, mounting all the spring hangers etc. and I was there for ages trying to get everything as spot on as possible and in the right positions.

But while I was doing all that it got me thinking what are the actual tolerances that companies like Suzuki use on their chassis/suspension etc. I'm guessing they aren't actually that tight as you have the movement in the rubber bushes, shackles etc. so what's a few mm difference going to make.

Does anyone know what tolerances they work to from the factory?

I know that caster angle is obviously important and needs to be around 3-5 degrees but what about everything else?

Surprising how you can move things around when you tighten bolts up.

But i wouldnt have thought it would be over 3-5mm. But scott, do it spot on, you will make your own tolerances, your human
