Tom's 85' SJ413 (Shake,Rattle,Roll) NOW UP FOR SALE
Hello, My name is Tom and This is my 1986 Suzuki Sj413.I bought it in June 2009 from Sayers Common in West Sussex.
When i bought it had the following Modifications done to it;
Vw 1900 1.9 TDI fitted, Suzuki calliper rear disc brake conversion, 31.12.50R15 Grizzly claw tyres, homebrewed snorkel, Calamini shackle reverse, Calamini Springs and rear shackles, heavy duty lift springs, Pro Comp es900 shocks all round, extended braided brake hoses, Superwinch X9 winch, X charge relays, Land rover Series fuel tank in the rear bed, Homebrewed front winch bumper and rear bumper, Air horns,Fast back roof, Rhino ray roll bar, half truck cab conversion.
Here are some pictures below;
I then had my first outing in it at Core 4x4 in Chichester west Sussex;
Then the more modifications started to come
BUCKETS SEAT AND HARNESSES
First i had to properly secure the Race X bucket seats in and fit my harnesses.
And these were the cheap harnesses i got,
FABRICATED A LIGHT BAR AND SWITCH BOX
first was the light bar across the cab using 3 maypole driving lights , and a few other small lights
then designed using CAD (carboard aided design) a switch plate for it and wired it all up.......
RADIO AND SPEAKERS
whilst i had most of the wiring hanging out at the time i decided to put in some old radio in it nothing fancy or special , and knocked up a speaker box using too pioneer speakers and a tesco value pillow for the padding inside.
and covered it in the black acoustic carpet from a local radio shop and bolted it right through the top bar
on the back of that i decide to put too more brake lights on it like 3rd level ones cost me a fiver , and two flashing lights of ebuy for a grand some of £3.98
this is were it sits bolts right the way through
this is the radio screwed underneath the glove box on that tray thing
VITARA STEERING WHEEL
i think this is the best £20 ive spent on my sj , as soon as i used it i felt that i had more control over the steering and its alot easier to steer in the sticky stuff and its alot more rounder to grip on two fits straight onto the sj's steering collum
Indeed more lights
decide i wanted to put some lights above my winch just to fill the gap up , i think there of a ford , and i got them for a fiver at a car boot
also bought some of the factory option like gaurds for 8 pound another ebay bargain
OCTOBER 2010 THAT WAS IT FOR NOW THEN BROKE IT BIG TIME AT SLINDON
so Yeah i went to slindon as core 4x4 closed down,
At slindon i blew the engine completly up, and i lost all my gears, lost my clutch bite and then decided to call it a day.Other then that i really like Slindon just a shame its all sand!
Slindon.
AUGUST 2011
So my sj sat locked away in my garage doing nothing because i due to family etc, Anyways i decided that it was full rebuild time as the engine is beyond repair and i wanted a change so out came the diesel engine
SUZUKI SAMURAI NUMBER TWO
soo i bought a 1992 k reg sammy just for parts and drivetrain has got mot runs out this month sep2011

Re: toms SLOW 1985/6 sj build
UPDATE 8/9/2011
taking the diesel tank out out the back took pretty much all day (no pics) and in the end it was just held in my silicone we was trying to wedge all sorts under it trying to get it to move and we finally got it out ready to be washed out , because i think if you use the proper stuff to clean it its cheaper n bigger then a boat tank
anyways i didnt like my roll bars colour not a fan of red tbh so ive decide to spray it lime green but the paint has reacted for some reason so i think its got to be all sorted out again.
so off came the paint and re done it and it was fine!

well the engine swap has to be stopped atm because most of the rear floor needs to be plated up , which hopefully my dads mate can weld all new metal in , once that is all done and put back together i can get on with with engine swap
