Bad day

Post by Rooge » Sun Mar 25, 2012 7:22 pm

Managed to destroy my thrust bearing, clutch and pressure plate, 2 uj's and 2 seals :argh:
I've took the gearbox out and there is a slight bit of play in the spline shaft with lots of oil on the inside of the bell housing, the seal has obviously gone but is the spline shaft ment to have a bit of "wiggle room" or should it be solid? Also the transfer box seal has gone are these easy enough to do?
Still had a cracking day in it :doublethumbs:
Cheers

Mine doesn't have any play in the input shaft on either of my gearboxes :(

Are you sure twiss, most gearboxes do have a bit of play as the input shaft is supported by the spigot bush/bearing

Yeah the play on mine is minimal if anything at all...
Same on the gearboxes on the 206 as well!

It's only a little bit of play but I was wondering if that would make the seal go?
Also I need a new rear propshaft, I've got a vit back axel in it so would this mean I have to swap flanges over or are they the same as a 413?
Cheers :doublethumbs:

the flanges on the vit diffs in my shed are the same size as the fat SJ props but its probably sods law that whatever size you currently have it will need the other!

dunno whether a sj diff fits a vit axle but if it does that throws a smaller flange size in the mix.
