Hi guys,

Just wondered if a cambelt snaps on a 413 engine will be likely or less likely to cause permanent damage......? Bent valves etc?

if it snaps it snaps it wont damage the motor as its a non-interference engine so the pistons wont smash the valves its just a case of lining the camshaft up and the crankshaft up and pull back tensioner and fit the new belt ;)

Ah that's good to hear, is changing the belt a simple job on one of these?

yeah its really easy aslong as all the bolts come out and you have a good selection of tools you will be fine.

It says in the workshop manual to slacken all the valves off to allow the camshaft to rotate freely and therefore allow the cambelt tensioner to work correctly. Sounds a lot of fluffing about, do people bother with that???

Cambelt. No more than 45minutes ish. Old one off, don't fck with anything. New one on and away we go.

I might even put new tensioner on when i do the 1600. With my new RW manifold, and rocklobster. And shiny alloys. Also those nice rust free doors and bonnet. Did i also mention i have chrome wing mirrors in the post.
