ok so in the summer (pause for laughter) I need to get the welding done on my arches. it just seems to me like while its bein done I may as well do a virtual lift.

whats the best way to go around this without c*cking it up?
was thinking of using an oil drum as its already curved and I could probably get all 4 arches outta one drum.

and opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated

steve

poor SJ it looks so nice as it is

How thick is the steel on an oil drum and whats the diameter?

It's really easy to get the shape into plan flat sheet, I literally just bend it over a tyre

Dan's build has good pics of the whole process, was a lot better than my first virtual lift, and I'm not sure you want to go quite as extreme as my last one

I just used sheet body panel steel. Used the curve of the arch i cut out to shape it. Tack welded as i went.

Well what size tyres do you want to run ideally?

well at the mo im runing 215/85r15 and they rarely scrub. I had to do a bit of cutting to the bumper mounts when I put the spacers on.
im happy with that size as I managed (just) to keep up with you guys on sailsbury plain. my only worry is that now the wheels are further out they'll scrub on the outer arches.

i like the spacers as it feels just a lil more stable. what do u think the options are?

How bad are the arches. If you can save them and just used a little spring lift.

My virtual lift was ample for 31s. Took a chunck out of the bulkead too. With my lift springs it'll be ample for 33s. :D
