Accelerator bracket.

Hiya chaps, another question. I've got a small rust hole where the accelerator bracket should be help on place and it's hanging loose. Will it be ok to bolt a plate onto the bracket and then bolt that plate to the body ? Or will it be best to weld it ? Also I'm after some new wheel arches, I like the defender arches very much but not the price tag that goes with them
Are there any cheaper alternatives ? Thanks, again

You should be ok with bolting a plate onto the bulkhead then bolting your accelerator pedal onto that... but you should be aware that although it works as a temporary fix, the bulkhead behind it will still get more rusty! Drilling various holes in it won't help, and an extra layer of metal is just something else for mud and water to get stuck behind, possibly making the rusting even worse!
It will probably need to be welded at some point, better to get it done sooner rather than later before it gets worse
(speaking from experience)

Cut all the rust out and weld a new plate in. Best way!
As twiss says more hole will lead to more rust!

Ive spent years bodging things back together and come to the conclusion that its really not worth it
(Unless you're really in a hurry, and will do the proper job afterwards
)

I used cable ties to hold a turbo pipe onto a 51 plate ERF truck. Held a treat
