henry,,
it wont be the servo, as thats just a vacum unit. but the master could leak into the servo and perish the seal?..as far as fitting a kit,NO" DONT DO IT.. the cylinder bore in the master will end up with a ring at the end off the piston travel, over years of wear. (brake fluid is corrosive,) if you fit a seal kit and blead it by pumping the pedal, you run the risk of damaging the new real in the worn cylinder. years ago we used to fit seal kits, but we had so nasty come backs due to the proplem ive just mentioned. sorry for going on, but with brakes you only have one chance.. ps; dont fit secondhand either.

hi hugh42,,
check your brake pads are seated correctly, and are not cracked. also when jacked up does the wheel turn freely without bidding!. when you brake, does the pedal feel as though its going up and down. if thats the case its propaply the discs warped. unless you have a dial gauge its almost imposable to check. it was a common fault with the early fords. trouble is without looking at it, i can only suggest things..let me know how you get on. (im away in brum for 2 days).. andy

if u don't have a dial gauge to check your disc run out, clamp a straight edge or long screwdriver to a fixed point like the steering arm. position the end of it as close as pos to the disc. don't use the edge of the disc as this is normally very rusty. use a section where the pads run then turn the disc and check to see if the gap alters. not as acurate as dti but if the pulsing is bad and the disc's r causing it this should show it.
cheers Kev
