Lost ignition timing marks (wont start)

Just done the head gasket on the G16A engine and like a complete noob I didn't mark the ignition timing when I unbolted the dizzy housing from the block. Im guessing when I put it back on its now on the wrong spline and put the ignition timing out.

Whats the easiest way to regain this as it now wont start. Thx :)

Take the dizzy out and set the engine to TDC. Put the dizzy back in lined up just before No. 1 cylinder and should be somewhere near to make it try and fire. Should be able to adjust the dizzy on its adjuster to get it right.

Yeah as Jordi says its pretty easy... imperative to be at TDC on cylinder one though!

Easiest way to find TDC is to use a piece of dowl or long screw driver in cylinder one and turn the engine over by hand till the dowl stops being pushed out

And make sure the cylinder is on the compression stroke !! ;)

I usually set it to TDC at the crank and then look through the oil filler cap to see if the valves are open, if they are its on TDC at no1.

That could be 1 or 4 as they both come up at the same time.

hold your thumb over the no 1 spark plug hole... when its on the compression stroke, it will push air out past your thumb :)
