Mot regs

Post by Smarty » Wed Jan 22, 2014 8:32 pm

So need to replace and reposition my number plates and thinking of getting sticker number plates again. I have them already but are very tatty now and haven't ever mot'd with them on.

Question is do sticker plates pass mot?

Sorry if it's been asked before etc

Sticker number plates aren't technically legal... but for a front plate its not something that really attracts attention. rear one might be a bit obvious though?

where were you planning to put them?

I'd be tempted to go try it and see worse case is you'l have to drive from mot to get some plates made and go back for the pass certificate
if in doubt, FLAT OUT!

mans tool kit > duct tape, wd40 and a bfh is all you ever need

Try it, like trotter said, just got get some made if it fails, I've got a feeling I read they are illegal but no coppers really bothers with them unless they are at such a angle the speeding camera can't read them properly I.e sports car. an anal mot guy might stick to the letter tho.
You have 10 working days for a re test, correct me if I'm wrong mind,

Or get cheap ones made ready, and pull them out when he says sticky ones are illegal, ta da
Cheers

Ian. :)

Ive got cheap ebay number plates... they are supposed to say who made them at the bottom but Ive not had any problems with it so far!

Police around here don't seem to bothered about 4x4s but mr donkeychomp told me a different story the other day!

Cheers guys! Il give it a go, as said I can always get some cheap number plates made up. Police around my way don't seem to bother pulling people over. Probably busy hunting down missing farm animals.

As long as the MOT guy can see them and the rear one has a light over it he'll be happy. Plod on the other hand might not. I got a £60 fine because my rear plate had no name from where it was made on it! My front was on the bonnet too and he told me that was illegal because it wasn't level. Bunch of arseholes.
If it ticks over...leave it
