Found a decompression shim whilst rebuilding head.
Morning All - Engine advice needed please! Currently have the head off of my M15a suzuki ignis engine. strangely it had a decompression shim - solid aluminium, c 4mm between the old head and head gasket. The only reason I can think of is that the old owner was going to put a turbo on it, could I jus...

Re: Suzuki M15a Head Gasket - Do I have everything?!
Thanks guys, there's a little machine shop round the corner that'll skim the head for £20 so will get that done as a matter of course anyway.
Thanks for the tips.

Suzuki M15a Head Gasket - Do I have everything?!
Afternoon All
I've got an Ignis Sport engine in my buggy (M15a engine I believe).
Doing the head gasket on it in a few weekends, I've got new bolts, and the head gasket, anything else I should replace while it's apart? Not done a head before.
Any tips much appreciated!

Looking for a good mechanic based near gatwick/redhill
Afternoon All I've come to the conclusion my 1.5 Ignis Sport engined buggy needs a head gasket, can anyone recommend someone locally that knows suzuki engines and fancies a bit of cash before Xmas to replace the head gasket? Only after good mechanics not people who'll 'give it a go!' Please let me k...

Re: Overheating 1.5 Ignis Sport Engine
Update on the post.... Figured head gasket had to be the problem apart from the fan the wrong way!.. so put in steel seal, and crossed fingers... Sadly started her up today and the temp just kept climbing as before. It takes about 20 minutes on tickover to get to 110 with the bonnet open. Thinking o...

Re: Overheating 1.5 Ignis Sport Engine
All good suggestions, I see your point on the fan now so I'll reverse that the way it was supposed to go. I do agree with your point about the hot engine bay, I was thinking of a scoop myself, however when I ran it up last week I left the bonnet open and it still got hot....! It did seem to be runni...

Re: Overheating 1.5 Ignis Sport Engine
I put the fan onto push as I figured it would dispell the hot air out rather than trying to cool through puling through, is this a flawed assumption?! The mesh is actually pretty wide if you look at it and needs to be there for protection really. I only do low speed trialling so flow of air in the f...

Re: Overheating 1.5 Ignis Sport Engine
Morning All Thanks for the replies - I suspected a head gasket, will see if I can get a sniff test done to start with. It's running coolant, has been flushed out both through the block and the rad. My electric fan is pushing not pulling as I thought about the air flow as well which should help. The ...

Suzuki Trails Truck - Need your thoughts Suzuki Guru's!
Afternoon All - Here's a picture of my Suzuki based trialler - it's a Jimny Tub, Ignis Sport 1.5 Engine, Rocklobster Transfer Box, Land Cruiser Axles, F+R ARB's and rear fiddle brakes. It's a cracking truck, but is curently overheating - have started a thread on the engine section - would really app...
