Green Lane Run: 'The Lay' East Sussex (GoPro3)

Post by mmac78 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 10:03 am

Yesterday I mounted the GoPro 3 on the wagon and took it down some green lanes. I did get footage of three lanes but unfortunately, I used a duff cheap micro SD card and only the first run came out intact. Anyway, this video is of a lane called 'The Lay' which starts in Beddingham and takes you through to Glynde in East Sussex. Clearly marked on the council byway list, this track in particular has had some issues over the years with the farmer who lives there has taken down countless 'Byway' signs and at the end of the track has removed the sign in favour of his own saying 'Access only'. I have notified the council of this again.
He has also challenged people in the past, and has been known to stack bales of hay and feed across the tracks to stop people driving/riding down.
Just giving you a heads up on him anyway, but you are entirely legal to drive this track and it's a nice little run that can be tied in with another one at the very end which goes up to the top of the hill for some great views. If your out for a day out these can be tied in with Old Coach Road and Robin Post Lane too.

Enough of me waffling... here's the video:

Bastard farmers... well if I see a hay bale down there it will be moved ;)
Also, I just ignore access only signs usually.... I'm accessing the other end of the sodding road haha

be careful to anyone who takes a drive down here, he's put up a temporary sand-filled barrier (red and white ones) across the entrance to the track at the farm end. I attached my tow shackle to the barrier the other day and dragged it out of the way, but I have no doubt he's put it back.

Nice video.
Just make sure you don't do anything you shouldn't be when gaining access

Dragging an illegal obstruction out of the way of a public byway isn't illegal, though. It's legal and socially responsible.

But if he damages anything whilst doing it, you know he will be straight onto the Police
