Fuel Consumption
Hi all
Seems to be a bit of an issue that this little car is so thirsty. However I can get around 40 mpg but normally around 36-38.
Does anyone else have any tips for getting good MPG

Re: Fuel Consumption
Break down and get the AA to tow you to your destination... I find it works very well!

Re: Fuel Consumption
That is good mpg 4x4s always drink a bit more, there's more transmission to turn than in a smaller similar engined car, larger tyres and a less aerodynamic body.

Re: Fuel Consumption
I would have also have said that is very good MPG,when you think about it they are about as 'aerodynamique' as a flying wardrobe

Re: Fuel Consumption
The jimny's official MPG figures state a combined cycle of 37.7 mpg.
The Ignis, with the same engine, does 44.1 mpg combined cycle (which is about average for a 1.3 supermini).
So I'd say you're getting about "normal" mpg's.
Just for comparison:
Suzuki Jimny 1.3: 37.7
Dihatsu Terios 1.3: 36.7
Honda CRV 1.6: 34.4
Grand Vitara 1.6: 35.3
LR Freelander 1.8: 27.6
And none of those are "proper" 4x4's (with solid live axles front and rear, selectable low range etc) except the Jimny.
It's probably the most economical "proper" 4x4 you can buy except the Jimny diesel, which you can't buy in the UK. And which may or may not suck because the engine may or may not be too heavy.
I get about 25 out of my SJ. I'd love to get 36-38!!!
