Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
Everyone else can leave their engines off and dan can tow everyone the whole way.... not sure if it would save on fuel or not?

Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
I'm definitely interested in doing this, depending on my work situation, if I can get time off and if I have the money, I plan to get a newer caravan next year so I may just tow it along with me and stay in a camp site for the 5 days in Malta and stay in a few sites for a night each on the way there and back, will see, if this is going to be in 2016 then that will mean I have plenty of time to be prepared for it and find camp sites along the route
What sort of motorway/highway speeds are people thinking of going at? 50/60 would be ideal for me towing the van...

Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
it'll pin cost £2000 just in travel costs with a caravan. Will cost more on every ferry, more on every toll road and more in fuel. Plus you'll miss out all the good bits through the Alps.
Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
Yer that's the main thing, I can't enjoy the roads as much with the caravan on the back, plus it's just less hassle using hotels otherwise I'll have to set up the caravan each night and then pack it all away agin the next morning, plus I'm not limited on speed without the caravan then, most likely just drive the car on its own I think...

Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
Hotels?? I've not heard them mentioned for the journey?
Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
I have just read back through it again, Ive got a couple of tents I can chuck in the back of the gv and bring with me, not sure I'll be taking the offroad route, dont want to be breaking anything, also the suspension doesn't have much flex especially when steering full lock with the tyres catching...

Yep, you'll save a small fortune not taking the caravan!

Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
Is the GV big enough to put a blow up bed inside? My mate's Yota Surf is so big, he can sleep in the boot without even putting the rear seats down.
But then, he's so short, I think he might be a hobbit...

Re: SCUK euro/malta epic road trip
I don't think so, I struggle to get a 5ft rabbit hutch in there at an angle, so I don't think I'd get one in it even with the front seats slid foreward, plus im 6ft 3" so that doesn't really help
