Post by 1066 Boy » Sat Jan 03, 2015 2:27 pm

Hi all. As per subject, i have a Vit 1.6 engine in my kja. I have two questions. :er:

1. How do i find out what year/model etc :?:

2. Do all the Vit 1.6 engines have a cam belt :?:

Thanks in advance Allan (1066 Boy)
I Know how to work it. Not, how it works...............

Hi Allan...

Its not a simple matter finding out what year/model it comes from, as they are usually only marked G16 on them I think...
Are you looking to change the cam belt on yours? All of the vitara 1.6 engines have a cambelt, and are usually non-interference (ie the valves dont normally get smashed up if the cambelt snaps)
If you are looking to change the cambelt and can't find one, I usually had a quick look on ebay for an 8v vitara for sale, and gave the number plate to my motor factors.
