Throttle position sensor

Post by Ladaman » Fri Jan 23, 2015 8:21 pm

Well I've been a total cock, and can't believe what I have done, so need you guys to get me out of a potentially very expensive mistake.

I've changed the thermostat in the Ignis engine this week, and in doing so had to remove the throttle body and then the inlet manifold.

In doing so, and I still can't believe it, I've somehow broken the loom connector off the throttle position sensor.

I think I've located a replacement at a breakers, but I've also been told there is more than one part listed for the 1.5 Ignis Sport engine.

So the questions are:-

If the throttle body and more importantly TPS looks the same, will it be the same?
How can I check to ensure it will work?
If it looks different, but looks like it might fit, will it work?

You REALLY don't want know how much Suzuki have quoted me for a new one.

Can you PM me the VIN of the vehicle that the engine came out of? I will check what models it was fitted to.

Is it a VVT or non-VVT?

Don't know, probably but not sure. It's from an Ignis sport 1.5, 16v engine.

Does that help?

Well I've had a right result today, considering.

As it was just the plastic body that was broken, I decided to pull it apart, see how it worked, and glue it back together. The only tricky bit turned out to be getting the contacts to touch where they needed to be. I tested it and it seemed to do what it should. So it's now glued back together and a bit of P40 around it to help.

It seems to work fine performance wise, I can't tell any difference.

A new one from the stealer's was £213  :S
