Re: g13a carby
To me it looks like the hyper over complicated standard Aisin carb.

If that thing is causing problems, there are tricks you can use to get it running properly again. But most of us swap it for either an SU HIF44 side draught carb or a webber.
I have an SU. A bit more power, possibly a bit more MPG's, smooth running and a lot less hassle. The most hassle I have is forgetting to pull out the choke. It literally starts on the button if I have the choke cable set appropriately to the engine temp.
Can't really comment on the Webber, although doubtless it gives more go. It's kinda what they're famous for!

You need an elbow adaptor (cheap and cheerful off ebay).
Or a modded manifold, approx £125 from RockWatt.
To fit the HIF is a few bolts, breather pipe, fuel in and fuel overflow. All the exisiting wiring just needs putting neatly out of the way.
Depending on the set up of the HIF you buy it might need the needle and spring changing.
Plenty of threads on here with more info and pics.

Re: g13a carby
Being in Australia I'm pretty sure there's some other popular carb options as well.
Might be worth having a search on www.auszookers.com

Yeah, if you're in Aus then an SU carb is probably not the way to go. They're everywhere in the UK, I doubt they're as popular elsewhere - they came on just about every Brit car going from the Mini to Jaguars and Range Rovers, they were simple and robust - meaning there are still loads about that outlived their car.
I have no real idea, but I don't *think* you'll find many your end of the world. If I'd known you were in Aus I wouldn't have suggested an SU, as I don't think it'd be simple to get needles, springs and seals or refurb kits for them down there even if you can lay your hands on an actual carb. I think it makes sense to use parts that are easily serviced and easily replaced.
