Weber Carb

Hi

Id like to buy and install a suitable weber carb for my samurai 89 SJ413.

Do you guys know which model that is?
Adapter plates needed?
Air intake adapter needed?

Iv got a webber on mine not sure what modal it is. Looks like its bolted straight on, no adapter plate. The air box has been atached with flexy hose.

But it does tend to cut out on steep climbs. Althogh id did read the other day that if you fit it backwards it will stop this.

You might be better off getting a su carb.
86 SJ413 tin top, 1.6 8v, SU carb, YJ spring conversion, virtual lift, 33x12.5x15 KL71's, rocklobster, rear discs, power steering.

Id go SU. As ferris says weber cuts out going up hill. If u fit it backwards it cuts out down hill.

SU is easy enuf. Although my fuel pump had seized and it took sum messing about to get going. Wasnt too hard to set up once i go it running and there are plenty of places to get SU carbs and adapters. Usually a lot cheaper than webers. Its running fine now just working up to the all important MOT.

hmm, Im after buying a weber from a dealer here. I wonder if it starts to cut out in places wouldn't I be entitled to a refund under warranty?

seems strange a carb flooding itself like this.
thought weber would have rectified this or simply stop producing them?

I believe its something to do with being down draft and the position of the float chamber. I hav read there is a mod to sort it. Again all official weber stuff and costly. Because of the design of the SU it doesnt flood or starve vey easily.

Webers may be better for power improvements. But im definately an SU convert.

There is nothing wrong with the carb for road or mild off road use, the carb cuts out on extreme angles which wouldn't be found in regular on road use, Jordi's right it is about the float position, some people have had sucess mounting them reversed, so that the engine is smore likely to flood going down hill rather than uphill,

For me I run a webber carb, It was eay to fit and worked loads better than the original item, giving me better fuel econmy and a more constant and reliable idle,

I have the fitting instructions as well but seen as though you havn't got the carb yet it seems a bit pointless

would you remember the channels the water pipes take now after the change-over.

It seems engine isn't cooling right ever since i did the change.

I suspect the water-pump, but just thought id double check the above incase I made an error.

the two water pipes that heated the old carb you just connect together by removing one and by fitting the other to the manifold, It shouldn't cause you any cooling problems, I'd have thought perhaps antoher fault has occured about the same time, possibly the water pump

After going about changing the water-pump

Pulling out the thermostat.

Im still having heating issues with my Samurai. Is this the Radiator?

Do they get clogged up?
