No they were never BS approved so they were never legal until the new Euro regs were introduced:

Wheels out for new tyres...and the sodding wheel bearings are shot so I better get them in sharpish as it's MOT time thursday!

What a nightmare today was. Decided I'd let the guys doing the MOT sort out the bearings...dropped the wheel off and at 9.30am phone goes saying one bearing I supplied is the wrong size. Thought they'd be the same each side but nooo. Frantic phoning around trying to find one then they call me back saying they have amazingly found an original 1980's Yamaha bearing (still boxed and sealed) in the back of a store room. Big sighs. Then they call back saying the Haynes manual I left them is wrong (sounds right). Drove back over, this is now 2pm and discover it IS wrong, the fitter was doing what the book says but it's all backwards. I did some explaining, he got it, said he'd call when it's done. 5pm. Call. Done. Pick the wheel up and blast back to the workshop. Not sure how many of you have fitted bike wheels on your own but they are a bastard what with all the spacers. Took 2 goes and finally by 7pm it's fitted. Nope. I forgot to put in the chain adjusters. Left for home with the bike all working as it should at 8.30. Fingers xxd for the MOT tomorrow.

Got to the MOT station to be informed I need docs from the DVLA confirming the year and date of manufacture before I can even get an MOT done. Luckily the Yamaha forum can arrange all this for me so they will, but it takes time (of course). At least the ride there and back was brilliant!

MOT time bike or car is always squeaky bum time for me.I always swore if ever I came into some money I`d buy a 1 year old car and trade up every 2 years just to avoid dreaded MOT`s.Glad the Elsie is on track

Yep, know what you mean but I do keep on top of my vehicles. I'll be gobsmacked if Elsie fails though...I've checked everything, and refurbed/replaced a load of parts.

Kinda like my Samurai after its latest rebuild.... should pass the test with flying colours.
New bearings, seals, etc all round, new shocks, shafts, EVERYTHING

Apart from the logbook says its got a 1.5 Turbo Diesel and you've stuck a 1600 petrol in it
