What you guys using to underseal??

Post by r-nottz » Sun Aug 23, 2015 6:42 pm

Just wondering what you lot are using to underseal your trucks?

I've never bothered undersealing anything as I've always owned newer cars, but obviously the vitara being my project I thought I better seal her up properly when she's back from welding.

A few of my mates used to use old engine oil and spray it on with a garden sprayer, one of them mixed it with greese and painted it on

Another few have scraped and brushed off crap then hammerited followed by engine oil

A lot of people have suggested staying away from waxoyl as it holds moisture and tears off especially on offroaders

You lot got any suggestions?

i use hammerite underbody seal, its £2.99 at my local cheap shop diy type place for a 500ml tin which easilly does 2 inner arches and sills. ive also used stuff called tetrosyl from my local motorfactors which is just as good. bitchumen based flat roof paint is also a good cheap substitte.

i was always told to stay away from underseal as it trapped in the moisture and to always use waxoil. Been waxoiling landys and my hilux for years with no problem

Only traps in moisture if there's moisture there before it's applied  good preparation is the key.

I used to use Tetrosyl Tetra Schutz, always had good results. But I have recently started to use U-pol gravitex as you can paint over it

Waxoil doesn't last externally on an off roader, you'll have to constantly re-apply it every year as it gets washed off, especially with constant jet washing. It's good fo inside cavities like inside the sills and chassis etc.

Stone chip is in my opionion the best, goes hard and is still flexible like Shultz, but is much harder wearing.

If you buy a quality product such as epol or mipa it is a very good way of making your suzuki last.

But I know nothing ! :)
