Petrol fuel line loose!

Post by palo123 » Wed Feb 03, 2016 9:09 pm

Hi, I have been driving my Suzuki sj410 up and down my driveway and have noticed it has been leaking fuel. After some investigation I found a 6mm clear tube running from the side of the filler neck through a filter and then straight on to the floor outside.
I'm wondering where the end is meant to go as I have looked around the fuel tank and have found no outlets.

Answers much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like a breather tube to me.
If it ticks over...leave it

Yeah, breather tube from fuel tank, it taps off on the filler neck and goes through a one way valve and dangles by the drivers rear wheel, so don't worry about it

Is it really really full?

No, the fuel gauge is about two mm from the empty mark. I think maybe there is a perished fuel pine as I got it up on ramps and there is petrol all over the chassis by the tank.

Thanks for the help guy's

It's probably not coming from the little clear breather line then. Probably coming from one of the others.

If it's coming from that general area, my SJ has a line that goes up from the tank to the top of the filler neck. Sometimes when I fill her up to the top, petrol comes back out there and back down the filler back into the tank.

I think it's there to help fill up without air rushing back up the filler tube, and when you overfill a bit the pressure down the filler tube can cause petrol to go up it instead of just air.

Yours might be damaged...? Assuming mine is meant to do what it's been doing...?
