Hey guys aswell as a few other things on my list of jobs todoo the sj gettin s new startermotor is 1 had a problem for a while now n as i am off work for a week and will be putting a new gearbox in i will not be putting that starter back on , starts up ok on first startup but once it has bin runnin for a while or am out n about when it gets hot it doesn't like to start turns over git slow bit n miss , sometimes have to leave it a min , so after a new one skinny starter as you call it. The one i fitted is the original one off the vitara spi could anyone tell me which is the correct one off a site to buy plz , thanks

I would start off my taking the starter motor off and giving it a good clean out. Quite an easy job, but best to do it inside on a table or something in case you drop any bits

Cheers twiss I had it recon when i first put engine in as it didnt turn over at all put it in after n starts it up but slow so took it off and put a spare one i had collected by then and that was spot on for abit could tell the difference stright away now this one is doing it , sometime its bang stright away and otheres it lyk its dying then sudden picks up n starts only does it when hot though , so think i will just buy a new one , hopefully its nothing els , thanks

Not sure what motor you got, just remember if its a 1.6 engine and 1.3 gearbox you need the skinny type
And also if you off road in mud/water them they can collect crap inside them quite easily!

Well today i went to euro parts and took my old 1 in n said can u get me one of these it is a bosh one so he he priced me one up £145 for a starter motor lol a said it didnt matter no way am paying that , yea twiss av got the 1.6 vit engine on 1.3 box , i have took my old one back to the recon place but i did want a new one anyone no any otheres that fit and r abit cheaper , thanks

I have two starters and just strip and clean one so it's ready when it's time to swap then repair the other and keep it on standby.
Parts are available and reasonably cheap compared to expensive complete replacements or unknown used ones.
