Jimny Soft-top designs

Post by TyZuk » Fri Jun 02, 2017 10:23 am

Right, I'm looking a getting a new soft top for my jimny as my current one is a bit ragged round the edges.
I was thinking about perhaps getting the Fastback soft top as it looks alright and a bit easier to take off and on, however does the shape of it make it impossible for people to sit in the back?

Also, unfortunately I MIGHT be selling my Jimny cone the end of the summer  as it's just not really practical for me, driving 50 miles a day! So if I were to buy a new soft top for around £300/350, would it add that to the resale price or would it not be worth doing if I do sell it?

Feedback would be great, thanks.

I use my offroad, and i've torn the edges of the roof many times, so not worth replacing in my eyes.

Have a look on ebay, and email breakers to see if they have any roofs!

The only fast backs I've seen in use have no rear seats or belt mounts
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Right ok, thanks. Do you reckon a new one would put up the price enough to warrant doing it? Considering mine is 2001, will probs be about 50,000 miles when I get round to selling.
On 46k currently. In good condition, new wheels, new tires, new cam belt, new exhaust pipes, just out of interest how much would you estimate it's worth now?

Probably around the 1600-2000 mark.

That's only 300 with the full fitting kit, although, a guy I work with got a new one fitted (they are all the same material now) and said that the roof was very loose and flapped in the wind!

Post up a pic of your roof for me!

Ok do well, considering I paid £300 for it 9 months ago haha but ah ok that's interesting, cos in fairness mine is totally waterproof, doesn't really let any wind in, it just looks shitty, got moss on the Velcro and gone stiff. At work atm, I'll get a picture in a bit. A couple of the plastic clips have snapped too so that doesn't help the look.
