Almost there with the door. Despite the weather and the summer doors on, the LJ was actually dry inside!

Finally the door is painted. Let it cure a bit and then lacquer. The other door is fine, but will be resprayed to match. Shocks are done too! Note scabby one compared to shiny one!

Doors are finally done, couple of coats of lacquer today and they look brilliant. Well, better than they did anyway...

Need to make up some new door cards this one has most certainly had it!

Both doors are on minus door cards. I had to put them back as I'm off to Oxford in the morning and I really don't fancy driving down the motorway with no mirrors! They have come up better than I hoped, the passenger door still needs a slam to close it but the other side fits nicely!

Bit of tinkering. Mot due soon and the tester remarked on the front brake hoses flopping about. So I got some plastic brackets from the local hardware shop, added a bit of thick foam in the middle and made this...next job is the rear brake shoes but that will be farmed out, my back won't handle taking the 33" wheels off!

The rev counter packed up a while ago and I wanted another but a larger size. All silly money until this popped up for a score. Wired it in today and can even have it glowing green! It has a red 'upshift' light so I dismantled the old tacho and put it in there. I think this is really neat. Turn the ignition on and it beeps at you and the needle spins to 11000 and then back to zero :hahaha:

Disaster! MOT looming and this happens. Exhaust gasket blown. OK I'll order a new one and then discovered I can't move the bolts at all. Bollocks. Bought some Quicksilver instant metal and tried that. It lasted about a mile and fell off. Might be an idea to try again but really clean all the coke off with brake cleaner and a wire brush. If this fails I've no choice but to take her to the local garage and get them to do it, shuddering at the cost but I can't do it.

On the plus side and even though it's not an MOT requirement, I did fix the reversing light :hahaha:

I used quick steel as a bodge repair on the exhaust one time, lasted for quite a while, but the smell was horrendous every time it got hot
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

That sealant was useless, just fell off. Got some stuff off ebay designed to seal manifolds, says it sets like concrete and it's nearly impossible to remove once hardened. That fell off too. Ordered a gasket, then a day later got a refund (no reason but I can assume the seller had none), ordered another and that arrived today, and is on and the LJ is back to normal. With no gasket she was gutless and backfired everywhere, now silky smooth and all the oomph is back!
