I read somewhere there could be a four door for the Indian market.

It looks a bit too civilised. I hope they bring out a rag-top version. I would definitely be interested - perhaps with an automatic g/box too, not that there's owt wrong with the old SJ box.

Suzuki has revealed European specs for the next-generation Jimny, which is due on sale in 2019. It will arrive with just one engine, a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol.

This naturally aspirated unit replaces the outgoing Jimny's 1.3-litre engine. It produces 101bhp and 96lb ft of torque for a claimed top speed of 90mph.

No diesel version of the Jimny is planned, with Suzuki having recently cut all diesel options from its line-up.

All I can say is well done Suzuki! Piggin' diesels I hate them.

There is absolutely nothing I don't like about this design, just fabulous:

I've never known a vehicle launch so dragged out as this one.

Loads of pics and vids out there now before any official release.

Anyway here's the Japanese official Suzuki cars website with the new Jimny:

They will probably produce it for about 20 years. So maybe getting it right is a good thing. Amazing to think the Jimny is 20 years old.

But have they thought about rust protection?
