Hi there,
the door strap on the drivers door of my vitara is starting to creak badly. The year of mine is 03 and from web searching all i can find are newer model straps. Are they interchangeable or would anyone know where to locate one for my 03 vitara?

Do you have a picture of this strap? I'm trying to imagine what it possibly could be.

Oh the hinge! Just plonk some grease on it (not much) and open and close the door a few times. Should stop the creaking.
If it ticks over...leave it

Not technically a hinge as it sits between the top and bottom hinges. Suzuki call it a 'Door Check Strap Stop'.
