Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
Looking great, the same as the blue one before how did the 80x80x3 box section do? From mesuréments on mine I decided thats what I'd need.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
I would recommend 90x90 box, trust me its easier The stock sills are 80mm wide that the bottom but 90mm wide at the top so you need to pull the body in to meet 80x80.
Guess i should probably add my tiny amount of progress I made just before the Lockdown Auto gearbox crossmember fitted and swb rear spring hangers welded on for my RUF conversion.

Yes, J20a with a 4 speed auto so my dad can use it for Laning when we go out on days where he can’t use the Jimny...... he doesn’t want to scratch it
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
Quick question, how much etch primer and gravitex did you use on the chassis? Thanks
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
I honestly can't remember sorry, I just keep etch primer and gravitex in the workshop in bulk so I just grab it off the shelf and go sorry I can't be much help, At a guess maybe 1.5-2L of etch primer and 4L of gravitex?
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
Ok, no worries, where do you get the upol stuff? Here in France it's about twice the price so am trying to find a UK site who will deliver to my sister who will send on to me.
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
I usually just order it off eBay, can get it for a pretty good price on there.
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
Cleaned up and slapped some rust treatment, primer and paint on the axle cases, I picked up a vit/sammy hybrid axle cheap, it's not pretty but it seems to be straight so i'm gonna run it and see with 4.3 diffs front and rear.
Then started work on the rear YJ set up. This was fun as my old Fobco star pillar drill seems to have devoloped a lot of run out so I ended up drilling these by hand. Gonna whip the chuck off the drill when i get a chance, hopefully it's just the chuck.
Focusing on the narrowboat project over the last few days but i'll finish the YJ mounts off next time I'm up the workshop.

Scottie are those mounts made of three seperate bits welded together? Whatever you've done it seems to work!
If it ticks over...leave it
