body lift???

i dont no where to post this so bourneyo is down to you to move this to where you feel fit.

ok thinking off lifting my anus a few more inches wots the best lift an the best kit to use an prise is all ways good
iv fitted a 2" kit to my mates anus verry easy only a few hours to do an it was one off ebay for 120+10posting
but is not there any more may be back in a few weaks, so im useing this time to find out a bit more, there is one on ebay but is a 3" kit same cost but will it fit with out mods as the 2" was close on my mates, but saying that some one els i no fitted the 3" kit to his an says is all good but i dont trust him in that way.

I fitted a 2" bits4vits kit to my mates Sammi and it was a doddle to fit but I do wonder if a 3" would work without extras. I cant see the fuel filler stretching that far and I would'nt be 100% on keeping on extending the steering :|

You also might need to make the gear & tbox sticks longer with a 3" lift, IMO i wouldn't fit more than a 2" body lift any way because i think 3" looks a bit stupid too! if you can weld whiy not do it how wolly has done it in the DIY section.

Yer thats the one i fitted im glad some one has the same worrys about 3"er kit. I mailed the seller an he tells me is a bolt on kit no extra needed sold 100s. He even offer a cut down cost.
I cant weld good so i need to bye i think after seeing my mates ill go for the 3"er i think.

I first made sure all the body mount bolts (10 of) would all come undone but i had to cut the two rearmost ones, I did this the day before then I fitted a "bits for vits" 2" body lift kit in a couple of hours on my own without too much trouble, I did one side at a time total of 10 spacers in all and the special machined bolts worked realy well, fuel filler pipe is plenty long enough to cope. Then I made 3 x 40mm spacers to fit between t/box mounts, this lifts the tranny case 40mm and stops you having to cut the transmission tunnel to allow low ratio gear lever to be used. If you just lift the body you will find you can no longer select 4WD low as the lever will hit the now raised tunnel..I put a couple of pics in to show you,the spacers were easy to make fromm some 40mm box, cut 3 at 50mm long and drill two holes in the center opposite each other then I slipped them in one at a time using a trolley jack to lift the t/case and bear the weight.....A bit of a fiddly finger trapping opperation but still not too bad. DONT forget to loosen the steering shaft at the nut in the engine bay and REMEMBER to RETIGHTEN it when you finish your lift or youy will have no steering!! lol. this splined shaft is long enough to allow a 2" body lift , cant say about 3" but probably ok as my shaft only moved about 5 or 6 mm after id finished. I also found the suzuki scissor jack useful in doing the lift as it fitted between the chassis and the body in various places, also arm yourself with some 4" x 2" off cuts of wood and some wooden wedges before you start. I hope this helps
