Sorry to bring up an oldies here, but.... my SJ is for on road use and a bit of green lanes, so I'm interested in softening up the suspension too.
LIGHTNING - what did you opt from in the end, and did it work?
Would the leaf spring Bedford rears / SJ back to front swap then benefit from softer shocks say the Procomp ES1000, and are the leafs a straight swap - some threads seem to say they are, other that the mounting brackets need to be relocated.
If in doubt, get a bigger hammer...

What shocks are you running? they can play a big part in having a comfortable suspension set up, especially if they aren't the correct length and end up bottoming out or fully extending on road.

I took my zuk to a pay and play yesterday to find the suspension is incredibly hard, I read that you can fit pro comp es1000's to an SJ but what about the front shocks with the pin mounts? And I can onl seem to find them in the US for a high price, what are astra shocks like? And are they a straight swap?
Also can rascal rears and rears up front be fitted alright with extended shackles? Or do I need to move the shackle mounts outwards?
