Insperation please

Post by srcars » Fri Jun 06, 2008 8:14 pm

OK I have got my other cars uptogeather for now so hope to get restarted on my Diesel SJ project.

Started as this

Turned it into this

Then fitted a 1800 Turbo Diesel engine

Trouble is I dont really want to refit the SJ body, Its got a fair bit of rot and the time spent fixing it could be spent fitting something a bit different.

But What ?

My intentions were to find a Ford Puma body and fit that but I cant get one anywhere for sensible money. I need 4 seats and a small boot so before I get another Polo and leave the roof on and back seats in what do you think ?

P.S. I have a contact number for a guy who can supply a Moggy body which is where I am at at the mo but quite fancy something a bit newer :?

suzuki alto body has very little overhang front and rear. Also dosnt have rust. Quite cheap and of course the one big bonus is its a ZUKE

Thanks everyone some good ideas.
robin reliant...
I did have a reliant lined up for a trike project but it fell through and having looked arround one to see floorpan layout and mocked up some pictures it looked horrible

Great shape for it but you need a bit of overhang to allow for springs.

Dont mind adapting something but starting from scratch with something I can use every day is not something I think I could pull off (doors, demisting windscreen ect. is harder than you think) My brother and I have just finished this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhdY8_vL4FE but its for sunny days. I need 4 seats roof doors plus I like to try and get a factory look on my interiors as best as I can.

Somebody suggested a Volvo 480 which I love the idea of but its quite big compaired to the SJ and they should be quite cheap now. Or even a Honda Civic (the hatch/estate shape one).

Keep ideas coming if you have any as it really does help and watch this space as I am scanning e-bay and freeads ect as we speak
