how to take the shafts out
Just a quick question on the axles I have got to take 1 of my backplates of on my rear axle I have undone the 4 bolts holding it on the casing how do I take out the shaft does it pull out or do I need to take the diff out
I looked in the haynes manual and it says it should pull out but I tried that gently as I don't want to buy any more stuff

Late as usual. Slide hammer is easiest. Or bray shit out of the back plate with a BFH. When it comes out watch for the oil seal and any oil dribbling out.

Re: how to take the shafts out
I normally reverse the brake drum and bolt it back on then hit it with a hammer using a nice piece of wood to protect the drum always hit around the centre and from side to side

Re: how to take the shafts out
I bought a slide hammer. Made the job so much easier.
Hopefully i won't have this issue much longer. Once RW has his full float sorted. Saving for that one next. If i sell my 31s that should almost cover it.
