Can anyone advise me on how to wire up my winch. I tested it when I first git it worked fine, after a strip down and extending wires I must have done something wrong because there shorting out.
Don't no if it matters but I have a britpart 8000lb with the new style solanoide not the old tin can ones,

I removed winch from the Sj tyres it as it was wired and it works fine put it back in a it shorting out. Does the winch have to be insulated from the body

No it dosent need insulating from body. Are you using wire the same colour as on the winch? Just I know people who have extended using just one colour and getting crossed up somewhere lol

have you got any photos of the wiring.
also are you sure no wires are touching on the body of the winch.if you had a wire that wasn't insulated fully or had worn through/been damaged it could be contacting a metal part of the winch and causing it to short as soon as the winch touched your sj.
