HELP PART NEEDED

Post by beegee » Fri Aug 02, 2013 5:49 pm

Hi guys, My first mail from Catalunya. I have a SJ410 Santana. its failed the local MOT as the hazard indicator switch does not work. My local main Suzuki dealer cannot find a new one so I am stuffed!
Can anyone advise where to find a new switch. I am not sure its the same as UK Samuri, it square, fits in row of similar shaped switches. Please help if you can, Thanks BeeGee

Can you not go down to the local breakers and find a switch that will fit in some spare space somewhere on the dash? There's no requirement in the MOT that the switch be an original Suzuki part - just get a switch in the dash somewhere, and remove the old one (or at least, remove the wires going to it, then cut off the tab that sticks up).

If you do get a non-OEM one, I would remove the old one in case the MOT man decides that if it's fitted, it HAS to work. Some of them are like that, or so I'm told!

As they don't normally get much use, I think I'd try just pushing it in and out lots of times first, as it might just be dirty contacts.

Free repairs are always the best.

My hazard switch is a pain as it is close to the dials and have to lift it up with your nails

Go to the nearest scrap yard go in the first car you see rip out the hazard switch and fit it in ur dash and wire it up its only a 10 min job or buy a switch of eBay like this

Remember though you will have to buy the wiring plug that conects it and get to grips with a multimeter so find out what wire does as the majority of hazard switches have more then two wires on the back.

Something's not quite right there Daz. Mine is no-where near as close the the dials as that.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Oh, aye. What I mean is I reckon either your dash unit or your steering column cowling and internals aren't in quite the right place.
