Smoking ALOT on start up
When I first start my truck after it has been sat for like a night or a day it smoke, not just a little bit, like ALOT haha! Once it has warmed up it only does it a little bit. Is this valve guides or rings? It has only done 41k miles!
if I am changing the engine is it worth putting a 1.3 in it?

If your changing engine i'd put a 1.6 in.
The smoking could be rings, valves, stem seals.
What colour smoke? Could be a carb / choke issue over fuelling?

mine does exactly the same so just swapping the engine, quicker and easier for me than checking/changing rings, valves etc, where abouts are you based? if you want a simple engine swap i have a nice running 410 block, that would be a simple swap, but if you were thinking of doing a bigger job then as jordi says, go 1.6.

She's an oil burner! Following it on Sunday I'd say there is quite a possibility of rings but I would start with the valve stem oil seals if it has been sat for a long time before you owned it.
I might have a set of valve stem oil seals if you want to try them, it's possible to do them without taking the head off on these engines but not the easiest way to do it.
Don't forget to fit a 1.3 or 1.6 you'll need a 1.3 gearbox, clutch and flywheel.

Could be a long shot but I'd read somewhere previously that even the wrong oil could be to blame. If it's too thin then it can start to seep through places it shouldn't when the engine is cold. Once the engine's been started, warmed up and everything expands, it's enough to stop it getting though and it stops smoking. I have no idea what the tolerances are like on that engine but it seems logical I guess.
Pop round at the weekend and we can have a look at it if you like.
If you're thinking of going for an engine swap then just don't worry about it and make sure you keep the oil topped up.

I bought one the other day that blue one started it up at the lady's house boy did it smoke. Put that expensive stuff from shell in and dad drove it hard on the way home when we got home no smoke. May have just be me being lucky

Did an oil change on it Yesturday and the oil was mega thin! Just pissed out and went everywhere haha!I put 10w40 back in it, could I do with something thicker do you reckon?

10w50 should be fine. Old oil always is thin, the older / warmer the thinner.
