anti roll bars! do they do anything?

Post by mk1joe » Sat Oct 05, 2013 4:09 pm

Hey,
Im very confused by the concept of using anti roll bars on a car with rigid axles, what do they do? i cant imagine they help that much.

i dont think my old sj had them and i want to take them off this anus so i can fit a skid plate under the engine.

Cheers guys.

PS: also looking for a soft top retaining strip that sits on top of the windscreen. (thought i would add this here to save making another thread) cheers.

they reduce body roll when cornering.
they are attached to the body and to the suspension and their purpose is to keep the axle as close to parallel to the body as is possible which reduces body roll.
they do work on rigid axles in the same way they do with any other suspension type.

most 4x4`s that are used off road will have them removed as they reduce articulation

The theory is there but I've never once though whilst driving my 410 'I wish the body didn't roll so much in corners so I could go faster.'

My SJ will go round corners faster than my balls will let me push her; and I've spun a Honda Civic on a dry road
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
