Just means it was made in Spain. SJs / Samurais were made in Japan first then later in Spain.

With the handbrake cable you will have a short cable coming off the bottom of the lever (about in the middle of the car underneath), then it splits into two, and then should have a cable going to each drum.

Get a friend to wiggle the handbrake lever up and down and from underneath it should be relatively easy to see where the breakage is :)

Hi all. Solved the gear issue. The transfer box was not in gear, once in it selected all gears.
The brake fluid was full and once I pumped the pedal the brakes came back ish. I think just a case of a good bleed.
Engine oil up to full level and looks good. Alternator on tomorrow if it's an easy job, and hopefully it's a runner.

Alternator should be a nice easy job! A plug, and 3 bolts or so to hold it on :)
Might be worth investing in a new belt as well while you're at it.... never hurts to carry a spare (as I've found out)
