Got my intake manifold back from Rockwatt today.

Image

See those holes in the manifold, at the bottom (just to the left of the thermostat in this pic) - are they vacuum? I'm just going to block them off, but I was wondering...

Image

It's so cleeeeean!

ImageImage

The "knobly" one is fuel, the "smooth" one is vacuum advance/retard, the one with the bolt blocking it off is fuel return - is that right?

Image

What the heck does that do?

I'm going to have to make a throttle abutment plate too. What's everyone else done in this regard? I think I'm going to have to chop the knobbly bit (technical term, that!) off the end of my throttle cable so I can screw it into the SU's throttle assembly. Not sure what I'm going to do for choke (I have a generic choke cable I've bought, gonna see about fernangling it into the equation!)

Once I get the thing running, I can see how bad the rear axle is (I'm 99% certain it's still doing the death wobble), although the MOT guys missed it last time so I may MOT it with the dodgy axle in (it's less than a mile to the MOT station) and then swap in a good axle later.

Finally on the home stretch, guys!

Those holes are nothing important. Old threaded holes where some of the original carb gubbins bolted on.

Nobbly one is fuel in, blocked pipe is a breather, unblocked pipe is fuel overflow / return. The pointy one on the top is vac advance.

Brilliant, thanks chaps!

Any idea what that doofa actually is? I really doubt I need one, since I've never had one installed anyway. Just curious, really!

I asked about the holes because I seem to remember having pipes there... But that could easily be my memory being messed up. ;)

Just a quick one Jordi - should I be considering opening up the breather then Jordi? Or does everyone keep that one blocked off?

Nice one, Darel!

There are 3 holes, the middle one looks like it could be a vac line for the idle up...

Or am I being paranoid?

Pipe 18 on the diagram, on the picture of the doohicky it's the black pipe between the bracket bolt heads.

Any idea if that pipe is a vac line? I think I'm just going to wind a bolt into it anyway, just to be safe.

That vac line plugs into the attached idle up not the manifold
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good
