Inclinometer my way

Post by andyrew » Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:17 pm

Many moons ago the little door on the dash of my jap sami
Fell off. But I struggled to find a good one to replace it.
(Spanish sami ones are a shinny finish and it would bug me)

Ive had a empty hole with just crappy change and rubbish.
At wagtail I got showered in 5p coins and other irritatingly small things
when I hoofed up a small But steep incline.

I like the factory inclinometer but there's no way im paying
The prices they go for!

So after the brutal attack my aftermarket inclo did to me
I ripped it to bits! And decided to start making a better version

I thought this too but its basically two gears and a weight.
So I just disengaged the gears and repositioned the weight
Now the dial reads level

I'm impressed and looking forward to see it fitted, I've wanted one for ages and this might be a lot better than a standard one! Or at least cheaper!

looks good man! I think I might rethink my dash Idea and put a phone in that slot... go back to the standard temp gauge and replace the cluster with a working one!

if i can do it anywhere near as tidy as that I'll be impressed ;)

Next step is a bit overkill but im a bit of a factory look
Person. I noticed that the old door is not completely
Flat so ive cut the door in half and stuck the two pieces
And the new frame down on a flat surface and skimmed
Over with filler to match the radius of the panel around the clock

Ill get some photos when ive finished the prep
