Post by jim tylee » Fri May 09, 2014 4:15 pm

My sj413 suzuki gauge always reads just above the first line/mark it never gets to the quarter mark
heater is hot though...do they all tend to run on the cool side ????? or is my temp gauge not accurate ?

yea mine will rise to the base of the gauge then stop. I use the fact the there isnt steam blaring out the rad to know im not over heating, or buy an aftermarket one.

you can check your gauge is working if you unplug the temp lead and touch it to an earth, the needle should rise, then you know your gauge is ok.

Jap and Spanish temp senders are also different resistances so there could be a chance that it has the wrong sender fitted.

Also might be worth checking to see if the thermostat is opening early or stuck open. I usually just throw a new one in as they are cheap.
