I've been meaning to start this for a while now. Finally making some progress on the rust! Still a bit to go. Ive got the gti engine in, jimny/vitara power steering in, 31's on, box section sills and a virtual lift just about finished. It's going to be my daily drive so trying to keep it comfortable as possible. I bought a set of yj springs second hand, when they arrived I lay them on the floor and found one had sagged Undecided what to to with that at this stage. I would also like to get rock lobster or 410 transfer and a air locker, ideally before its on the road which I'm hoping is September!

I bought a metal stretcher for panel steel which makes a really nice arch from an L shape bend. I spot welded the outside to the body and inside to existing arch. I like this because there is minimal panel warpage on the outside

Sorry the photos are in reverse order and not the greatest side shots because I can't get far enough back in the workshop. It will get pushed out soon and I will take some clearer shots

Some fine work done there...you will need a 410 box with 31" tyres. My speed suffered terribly when I changed up to that tyre size.

Nice one. I will do that. The stretcher/shrinker I got off eBay. (Watch out for other stretching devices when you type that in though!) Thought I would probably sell it when I'm finished but its so handy I'm going to keep it. Might even bend a couple of patterns incase someone else wants some but looking at your builds that you have I would think it would be a very handy workshop tool. They retail around £140 but often have 99p reserve, think I got mine for £70? 25mm throat and 1.2mm maximum thickness. I used .9 and it bent easy!

Awesome cheers, after asking that I actually went on the hunt looking for one, found them new from the place I bough my tube bender so it's next on the workshop tool shopping list! Think I would be constantly using it for various jobs.

Looking forward to seeing this build progress! I'm really impressed so far

Pushed the truck out of the shed last weekend to turn it round. Couldn't resist a few pics in the sun and sat the flares on to see how it would look.
Its all apart again now and upside down to finish welding underneath and under seal

Welding completed on the under side and all sealed up. Next I Was going to start making some templates up for the yj springs. I have a 2nd hand set, one pair has 5 leafs and the other pair 4. Does anyone run the 5 leafs or is that to much for an sj?

Looks really good!

5 leaf pack in the rear and 4 leaf up front is the way to go...or 5 leaf front and rear.
