Green LJ80 build thread

Post by lj80stori » Mon Jul 21, 2014 5:19 pm

Hi all,

Here is my LJ80 that I have had a couple of weeks now. Came over from france and just in the process of finishing a little patching in the floor pans to get it through its MOT. The rare occasions in which I have been able to take him for a spin its been fantastic! Have big plans for the little chap in the future but for the moment I am just doing the min required to get him registered and on the road... hopefully before the sunshine disappears. In desperate need of trim parts if anyone has any kicking around :)

P.s does anyone know how to add pics rather than files?

:welcome: to the forum matey!

Must say I'm very jealous of the lj80, it looks really tidy!

What trim parts do you need?

Thanks ScottieJ!

Mechanically its sound and because it came from warmer and dryer climates there is hardly any rust. Trim parts.. seats but them I think everyone is after them. Things like a Good condition gear stick, handles that go at either end of the dashboard. Have the extended wheel arch trims however they arent in great condition. Were painted green with wall paint so a good condition set of them and the thing I am really after is another bonnet clip as one is missing. It also came with a box of spares so I have some parts I can trade too if anyone needs anything. Also after a square bumper with ends. Or at least the dimensions so if possible i can get one fabricated. Shame there isn't anyone supplying parts in the UK. Companies I have contacted are reluctant to ship abroad.

I might have a few of the bits you need. I started collecting bits to restore my rust bucket of an Lj but now it's being sold and when a few of my other projects are out of the way I'm going to start hinting down a better base for a project. I know where one is already....just need to persuade him to part with it  shouldn't be that hard hopefully as it hasn't moved for years.

I do actually have some arch trims, I paid £60 for the set but the two rears are both driver side. I'll accept what they owe me if you want them. Can take some pics for you if you are interested?

That looks like a right gem - 'green' with envy. I suppose one day I'd surrender my SJ if I came across a decent LJ, they look brilliant.

Yes, pics would be good. Think the worse one is the passenger side but being a lefty drive that will be the drivers side. Need to strip them back at the weekend and see what I am left with. Thank you

Not saying I'm envious but DAMN.

Lovely little LJ...are you going to convert it to rhd?
If it ticks over...leave it

Thanks guys and thank you for the pic size. Changing now :)

Going to keep it as a lefty. It's so small you don't really notice a massive difference. Trying to keep it as original as possible.. If it isn't broke :)
