BIGJIMNY MEET 2014
In conjunction with Thames Valley 4x4, I have arranged a BigJimny off-road meeting. This is a meeting for all Jimnys and their owners, from the shiniest pavement princess to the full blown mud-warrior.
LOCATION: SLAB COMMON, BORDON, HAMPSHIRE
Located in Bordon, Hampshire, Slab Common is one of a series of M.O.D training areas around the military town. The site consists of a large sandy area with scrubland and woods. Wide open, sandy drives give miles and miles of off-road driving. Hot weather means the site will give you sand driving whilst wet weather will challenge all vehicles in the mud. The openness of the site means that road going shiny vehicles will find a lot to safely amuse the family on this site. This is one of the top off-roading sites in the South of England
DATE/TIME: 19th October 2014 - 09:30 onwards
COSTS: £30 per vehicle Due to the way the MOD require payment we will need you to pre-pay, the fees will not be refundable. In the event of non-attendance there may be a possible refund out of any funds left over but I cannot guarantee it as I have had to pay for 30 cars initially. The event will be non-profit making To pay, click on the link at the top of the forum page. Camping payments will be taken on arrival at the camp.
GENERAL GUIDANCE/RULES: At this stage this is a Jimny only event. This is an event run under MSA insurance, therefore there will be a mandatory drivers briefing and scrutineering - see below The event will be marshalled by TV4x4 Marshalls Some areas of the site will be off-limits (marked with tape) and the making of new tracks is not permitted The site is littered with military vehicles used for training, these are out of bounds.
Drivers Briefing and Scrutineering: Everyone will have to attend a drivers briefing, this is a quick chat on safety. All cars will be checked for general safety. This is not an major check but is simply that you have some of the basics covered such as seat belts etc. Specific points will include that your battery is secure and you have a fire extinguisher on board. You will be expected to have some form of recovery points on your car. Standard Jimnys are renowned for NOT having recovery points (they have tie-down points). This should not be an issue for this event but you should consider getting a shackle to pass through the tie-down point to assist with recovery.
Thanks to the generosity of Dave at Bits4Vits and the craftsmanship of Rockwatt there will be awards to win. The categories are yet to be announced but there will be classes that both tricked up mudpluggers and shiny pavement princesses can win.
Other Activities: Overnight camping will be permitted on the Saturday evening. This will be £10 extra per vehicle. Note that this is rough camping on an army exercise area, the only facilities available will be a Portaloo.

Re: BigJimny meet - 2014
When you say Jimny only event does that involve classic Jimmy's eg SJ/Sammy's or do you just mean modern Jimnys?
